classical gas
i knocked out a good portion of this song tonight, any recomendations as to how to get better, or like ways to learn it faster.

When I learned this song the parts that gave me problems I would single out and play those for awhile and just start playing them at a very slow pace. Here's a tip: Don't use just your index finger and thumb to pick. That's how I would fingerpick, and it took me a while to get up to speed. Now I can play it at a 190 tempo (Clapton's: 160) max., but it's almost like a freakin' trance I go into. Hell, it is. If you use your middle finger as well it'll help a lot with the chorus.
