I think Dave is the most unique out of the band.

I know most of you think Carter is, but I can tell you otherwise. There is not one thing Carters does that another drummer (one before and much better) that does the same chops. Not one thing.

Cuz what you said has little to do with this thread. What DMB member is the best at what he plays. Carter is better at his instrument than anyone else in the band is at their instrument IMO.

What I said had to do with an earlier post regarding thise thread. People were confused whether this was about the best at their individual instruments within or outside of the band (the conversation about Flea, Victor, and Jaco).

I think being unique counts a lot these days in Pop music. I believe Dave is the most unique and therefore I think he is best at his instrument.

i took the question to mean who is the best among others at the instrument they play. in other words, who is the highest ranked of people at that instrument.
i chose leroi because i think i saw somewhere that the whole band agrees that leroi is the "real" muscian of the group, that is to say that he knows what hes doing more than the rest of them.

i kinda see carter as the tim reynolds of the drum world, allot as good as him, and some better, but hes still amazing, we all gotta give him that. dave isnt the tim of guitar, everyone is very talented, but i gotta say carter is a notch about the rest, a tiny notch though

2) Victor Wooten

I think he was looking for relative comparisions to other people who play the same instruments. If it's just inside the band then of course they are the best at their respective instruments.

Anyhow, I think that Carter is the most accomplished on the drums than anyone else is on their instruments.

I took it to mean that who within the band is best at whatever instrument they play - therefore, the question being is Carter better at drums than Dave is at guitar. I stand by my decision whole-heartedly. Leroi brings a great groove to the band, but he's really not that good of a sax player. Boyd above Stefan AND Butch? That's pushing it...

Roi is incredible, he just doesn't shine as much as he should because he doesn't play as much as carter, dave or stefan. ex: long black veil from gorge 02

LeRoi is a fucking beast of a sax player. I've been playing sax for almost ten years, so I sort of feel as if I know what I mean...Not to sound like an ass

Carter is amazing, see all posts for why.

stefan isn't the greatest technical player but he more than makes up for it with good taste in grooves and bass lines and what not.

dave isn't the greatest guitar player, but i think you're bad at guitar if you come up with lines that aren't catchy or that no one remembers. almost every dmb tune starts with dave playing the riff solo, and we can always tell what song it is within the first 2 seconds.

i don't know lots of violinists/saxophonists so i think boyd and roi are both great at what they play.

well, i realize that i do not know it all, so i tend to believe sources that would know. and i think that if his bandmembers believe hes the best at his instrument, then he probably is. i think disagreeing with them would be a slap in the face. would be are you calling dave, stefan, boyd, carter, and butch liars?
