Why is Crush so hard for most? Just listen to story tellers and you'll feel stupid for having trouble with it... *no offense*

That's why this board is kind of an enigma to me as there are no real short cuts to playing the guitar. You either are a prodigy and don't have to practice very hard, or you have to practice and practice and practice, a a real LOT to learn new songs, technique etc.

Crush isnt easy. if you havent been playing long you should try some non dave. the first song I ever learned was the watchtower intro, dave style...3 notes, one string. then I graduated to some nice G,C,D chords. then I tried Brown Eyed Girl. Then some Ben Harper (Waiting on an Angel) reeeeal slow. then wish you were here. all easy, slow songs, etc. I didnt start learning dave until I had been playing for a good half year. his rhythm aint simple, and his chords are weird. if you refuse to learn anything but crush, trust me you will eventually get it, but you're stunting your growth as a guitarist in the mean time by not building a solid background. if you learn other things, and come back to a more complex song like crush (obviously I'm talking about more than the verse), then you'll nail it.

The problem is I've been teaching myself. So I discover things along the way that I probably should have been doing from the start. The problem I had with Crush is that my timing or rythym hand was off. This problem is because I havent really practiced strumming that much. On the other hand Tripping Billies and Crash gave me no problems, but they are a bit faster to play.... Good news, I finally got Crush, and I've learned to work on making simple chords sound complex by developing my strumming. I guess the key is not to ever stop your hand from moving even if your not hitting strings, I dunno it kinda feels like im playing the drums now.

Once you figure out how drum influenced Daves guitar is it starts to fall into place a lot quicker. Cheers to learning Crush.

I dont know how you can get Crash and not Crush. They are both broken 16ths.

20$ dollar lesson would be much more useful. You need to know what a metronome tells you before you get one.

Unless you have brain damage it should take less than five minutes to understand basic rhythm and how it relates to the metronome. The hard part is in applying it which just takes practice.
Get one. You'll be glad you did.
