Short thick Fingers = not a good guitar player??

Mine on the other hand are short and thick (slightly) so i'm getting disheartened that this physical deficiency would mean that i would never be able to play those cool dmb guitar licks. *shrugs*

I can play Crash Into Me decently...
I'm having a helluva time playing Satellite though.

Long fingers are an advantage, but not a necessity. I'm more of a pianist than a guitarist, and people say the same thing about piano. Anyone who plays either instrument would love to have bigger hands, but you can get by without them.
Beethoven was only 5'3'', I'm sure he had small hands, but that didn't stop his musical development. Tim looks pretty short as well, and his fingers are too. So you can see, short fingers are nothing you can't overcome with practice.

ya and warren hayes looks like he has some stubby fingers...whip3512 wrote:just practice the reaches guys. i used to not be able to play #41 because of the reach, but it just took practice.
also, look at victor wooten! his fingers look kinda stubby, and listen to that guy!
all it takes is practice
