through an electric amp and vise versa, but you can plug both of them into a PA and it sounds fine. Whats the big difference between the three?

something about electric amps being made for electric guitars and acoustic amps being made for acoustic guitars...

an electric will only amplify acoustic sound, an acoustic amp will improve it.

amps are the crucial part of an electric guitarists sound. a crappy guitar through an amazing amp will sound better than an amazing guitar through a crappy amp. its meant to color the tone towards an electric. not acoustic.
acoustic amps are meant to accentiate the acoustic tone. it will color it. the most natural acoustic tones are through a PA or mic'ed.

Electrics also are "mid" heavy. A good way that I've found to play an acoustic through an electric is to turn the "low" and "high" all the way up and the "mid" all the way down.
Don't get too close with the guitar if the volume is up high though. The result will blow through through the wall.
