little thing

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

dmb_tatertor: There is nothing wrong with wanting to play the song a different way. The way that the tab book has it probably sounds a little fuller depending on the skill of a guitar player......or it will include timmy type notes that would otherwise not be there w/ the just Dave version on the site

SpoonInSpoon: The tab on the site is EXACTLY how DAVE plays the song live. I have video's of Dave playing at a D&T concert...that very same song. But, with that being said...the tab book has it's advantages(extra notes to have a timmy-esque sound) and disadvantages(not what Dave is playing). Your best bet is to have your friend play the sites version...with you picking/playing the tab books version for a nice medley!

i play it the same way:

Code: Select all

E-7-------7----------------------- <---1
B-8-------8-------8--------------- <---2 (1 on 3rd 8)
G-11------11------11------7----7-- <---4 (3 on 7)
D-9-------9-------9------(0)--(0)- <---3 (2 on 3rd 9)
A-7-------x-------x-------x----x-- <---1
E-0-------8-------10------7----6-- <---1 on 8(3 on 10, 2 on 7)
and whats with all the flaming? all he wanted was the fingering for a certain way to play this song.

Well, Dave and Tim did have something to do with the first book. There is a big interview of Dave and Tim at the begining (which is worth buying the book for, it's a great interview).

Also, we have discussed this before: Dave does play it differently from time to time live. That show could have been one incident. Another thing is, Tim has looping effects. Maybe the tab guys heard that note, and it's actualy a note on the loop Tim has, but I bet the tabbers don't know about his effects too much.

So, either way is fine. They both sound right and play right. One note to make it fuller or not, your choice is what say.
