Paul Simon's "Kathy's Song" Cover-Please Critique

Unread post by GreedylilPig » Sat Sep 04, 2004 3:10 pm

Recorded this last night.

Link (right-click): Kathy's Song

Lyrics:

I hear the drizzle of the rain
Like a memory it falls
Soft and warm continuing
Tapping on my roof and walls

And from the shelter of my mind
Through the window of my eyes
I gaze beyond the rain-drenched streets
To England where my heart lies

My mind's distracted and diffused
My thoughts are many miles away
They lie with you when you're asleep
And kiss you when you start your day

And a song I was writing is left undone
I don't know why I spend my time
Writing songs I can't believe
With words that tear and strain to rhyme

And so you see I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you

And as I watch the drops of rain
Weave their weary paths and die
I know that I am like the rain
There but for the grace of you go I

i can't listen right now but knowing you it is awesome

you have a very orginal voice but yet it fits very well with your James Taylor and Paul Simon covers.

don't kid yourself and don't fool yourself
this love's too good to last and i'm too old to dream

don't grow up too fast don't embrace the past
this life's too good to last and i'm too young to care

don't kid yourself and don't fool yourself
this life could be the last and we're too young to see

I went to the site, thinking maybe you typed something wrong, but its not up. I listened to "Angel" though, and I liked that a lot. I dig Matt Nathanson.

Dude, that means a lot to me. I don't try to emulate those two, but that really goes to show how much influence plays a part in everyone's music. James Taylor and Paul Simon are probably my two favorite musicians.
