I find that when i play in drop d the E string rattles..clanky clank clank...i just had a set up done to my guitar so i doubt it is an action problem? Any ideas?

If the action is low it will hit the frets when you strum hard, simple as that.

yea except i just said i had my guitar adjusted by a technician...

It doesn't mean it's high enough. He could have done nothing for all you know. If he did lower it, it will clank. If he turned the truss rod, he could lower the action, clank.

Try restringing the string.

I just had the same problem, don't know why really but after I restringed it (take it off, put it on) it worked.
