The best 5 bands I've seen:

1. Live
2. Metallica
3. DMB
4. Blues Traveler
5. Sevendust

I hate to say it, but from the last DMB show I've seen, they do not compare to Metallica (which I just saw on August 22!!) or the band Live. I admit, the DMB shows I saw back in 1996 and 1998 would put them at 1 or 2 on that list, but from the show I saw at Alpine night 2 2004, I think that they've lost something, even though Hello Again rocks.

I also agree that DMB can sometimes get a little boring in concert, and unless Tim's with them, I could do without a 20 minute Two Step or Jimi Thing.

Eric Clapton at the Hollywood bowl august 2nd was the greatest concert I've ever seen and Robert Randolf opened up for him it was the greatest thing ever

clapton at Pepsi Center was pretty good here. It mgith have helped if I was bigger fan then I am. Paul McCartney was damn awsome. I saw Incubus at Red Rocks that show was glorious. DMb is my favorite though, just because it is DMB. Im not gonna lie, Im ignorant when it comes to a thing like that. I saw an okay set with DMB and loved it more then seeing one of the greatest drummers (Dave Weckl) with all my favorite songs with only 100 other people. Im stubborn like that.

Id have to disagree with Metallica. Although they are one of my favorite bands ever, their live shows werent as great as I thought. They were awesome, but not exceedingly great. DMB and Tantric both have phenominal live shows, which I enjoyed more than Metallica's.

dmb may seem less energetic live than rock bands, and thats understandable because rock songs are more fast paced and stuff. for instance, bela fleck and the flecktones, they are good live band because they are so talented and so good at improv, but thats only to people to understand talented music. bela fleck isnt gonna get the energy of zeppelin or even dave for that matter. in comparison to other bands id say dmb and phish are bands where id prefer to be sitting during the concert, chilling, maybe the occasional ovations but mostly sitting. then zeppelin or someone comes on, now im standing up because theyre playing black dog and its amazing.

I disagree with Metallica being better than DMB. And really, this is all subjective. The best live show I have EVER seen was the Flecktones. I was completely blown away by the performance, then anything else, and I've seen alot of good shows.

Although I'm sorry about your friend...It may have been amazing for you, although just because you had an amazing experience thanks to them, doesn't mean you can denounce any other band and say other bands and other fans didn't have stronger or more widely felt connections.
When did I denounce anyone??? I said DMB isn't the best live band. I didn't mention the fans at all. Its a fact that there is a lot more energy at other concerts, thats all I said.
