Worst mess up at a gig?

i know that most of ya dont play in front of people a lot, but i figured this could be an interesting topic.

mine happened tonight. we were doing a hardish rock song. its one of those songs where electric needs to dominate over everything.. i was using my blues driver and my boost to get what i needed out of it lol.

anyway, at practice on monday night we set up everything. even how to end it and stuff. we were gonna end it on a quick BUM BUM type thing. 2 quick beats (staccato... or played real quick and not let ring out). i set up some of that whole deal.

so everythings great, people are really likin it, and i forgot to end it like that! i felt retarded haha. to ease the tension i was like 'wow... im glad i set that whole thing up' or somethin like that.. heh. other than that tonights set went great.

alright, whats yours?

I was playing solo for this girl and I started singing the wrong verse in Stay or Leave, and fumbled and had to stop, she still loved it, but it was embarassing.

Ok, this one really sucked. I was playing Oh and had to wipe my nose (itch), and a booger stuck to my index finger and I kept picking away.

Broke a string halfway through the set without a replacement, had to borrow a guitar from a guy who was playing later, but it was way outta tune.

PA system that we borrowed kept cutting out mid song. Ended up playing a couple of song completely unplugged then gave up....it was not fun.

when i was playing at the local Jillian's once, mid-set my mic just died (worked after we got home, but for some reason couldnt fix it on site) And later in the same set, i broke 2 strings in the same song. It was a bumpy night but people appreciated the effort.

I've had a few problems with house PA's cutting out, which is why I finally dropped the cash to buy my own. Other than that, apart from forgetting to do things like play a cover that I really wanted to do, or end a song a certain way as you mentioned, or do a seque, nothing too huge.

The nice thing about messing up something like a new ending to a song or a new seque, is no one really knows that you messed up except you, because no one knows what you were supposed to do there.

I was playing in a house band for a youth group that I normally play at and we were doing a song that the singer wasn't really familiar with. He had a lyric sheet in front of him. During the song he stopped singing and said, "Could you turn the house lights on? I can't read the words."

Company talent night. Finished the song, people applauding. I turn to walk off the stage and promptly trip over my chair, knock the microphone over and damn near fall on my guitar. I could have died right then and there.
