The 7 stands for the 700 series. Each series uses different woods. There are 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800 and 900 series.
The 14 stands for the body style. The body styles are as follows:
10 = Dreadnaught
12 = Grand Concert
14 = Grand Auditorium
15 = Jumbo

If there is a "c" after everything, that means its a cutaway....and a "ce" means a cutaway with electronics (pickup).

There are a few other series and body type numbers, but the above covers most. Check out http://www.taylorguitars.com/guitars/

And jojo321....go for the school..has better long term benefits. Buying the guitar now will only get you beautiful women...and thats really shallow. Seriously, go for the school.
You're only as strong as the tables you dance on.

The middle digit is always either a 1 or a 5. 1 indicates a 6 string, 5 indicates a 12 string.

I really don't have a guitar of my dreams. I just basically play and if I like something then I'll dream about buying it. Today I did go to the music store and I played a Taylor 914, greatest shit ever. Then I played my first 12 String Guitar. I can't remember its name. The only song I know is Grey Street, so I'm sitting in the music store playing Grey Street and a little bit of Crash Into Me. After playing on these nice guitars, I realized that my guitar is really crappy and I need a new one.

Guitar Center loaned me a 614ce while my 814ce is getting sent back for repairs. Thought that was a pretty amazing thing to do.

Buy the computer, though. Seriously. You can buy all the Taylors you want after you graduate.
Peace,

Stunt
