loop machine

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

ok, i have had the rc-20 loop station for less than 24 hours, but its already sold me as amazing. this will help you either as guitar or bassist, with playing under or over something else. also, dong a compilation of things with a bunch of overdubs and playing it back to yourself...makes you feel good about yourself.

I have a DL4 and it has reverse and 1/2 speed playback also. u can then overdub playing forwards or in reverse, its only 14 seconds but unless you're doing some complex stuff thats enough. And if you're using 5 and 1/2 minutes of a loop, arent you better off straight recording it?

well, the 5 1/2 minutes isnt all on one loop. its like, you can record 30 seconds on loop tracks 1-6, and then do a couple of 1 minute tracks on 7,8...stuff like that. it allows for more storage of different stuff, not necessarily one big track.

also, this has, i guess what would be an extention of half speed playback because you can change the tempo of whatever you are playing back to fit the song(and it doesnt change the pitch)

quantize, or whatever they call it.

Basically it changes the tempo to 4/4... Or something. I have no fucking clue.. I want one though.

haha yeah quantize isnt what i was talking about, but it has quantize.

quantize basically makes it so that your loop fits your time. if youve ever tried looping without quantize, you know that you have to hit record and stop at the exact right time or else the spacing wont be right...well loop quantize fixes this for you. the only thing is that you have to set the tempo for quantize to work.

also, it assumes you are going to be in 4/4 but if you arent, there is a way to change it to whatever time sig you want.

I'd put the looper right next to the amp, otherwise you can't loop any processed sounds.
