Martin SPD-16K

Unread post by elektronic » Sun May 04, 2003 11:04 pm

Just curious as to whether or not anyone here has played it and what they think of it. I don't have the ability to get to a guitar store anytime soon (I'm at college and I don't have a car on campus for another 2 weeks.

So what are your thoughts on this guitar, the reviews on harmony central about the Martin Special Edition are all very positive, and I think once I have the means I'll be buying one...

looks like a VERY nice guitar. it's all solid, which is good. i dont know about the koa wood, whether it has good tone or not. you can probably get one for cheap at a guitar store if you could find one. with a list price of about 2300, i bet the store price is about 1400-1500
I can't believe that we would lie in our graves wondering if we had spent our living days well, and I can't believe that we would lie in our graves dreaming of things that we might have been...

Always take at LEAST 40% off Martins suggested retail price of their guitars.

40%? Wow, do you just offer the guy in the guitar shop 1/2 price for one of the martins, and see what he says?

No. I mean that if you look a guitar up at Martins home page and it says $2,000 suggested retail price you should find that same guitar at any guitar shop marked 40% less than that. So it would be listed for sale at that shop as $1200 if my math is right. My Martin HD-28V is listed as 3479.00 and I got it for 2100. 40 percent is just a ballpark figure

You are correct, the price of this guitar, depending on location, is between 1400-1700. 1400 at some sleazy internet dealer, 1700 at guitar center/musician's friend.
