DMB and Habitat for Humanity

Unread post by something cool » Sun Aug 22, 2004 10:39 am

New member. Great site. Thank you for having it. Good instructional stuff too.

Saw where Dave and band members were helping on a Habitat for Humanity house in Houston on Saturday. http://www.davematthewsband.com/road/frames.html

Quite a risk if you ask me. How much do you think Dave's hands are insured for? I doubt they let him cut or hammer anything. I'm a carpenter by trade, and I haven't been playing guitar very long(2 years), but as I get better I start to think about some of the risks I take at work, like maybe I shouldn't cut this with my hand so damn close to the blade.

Speaking of cool...at his concert here in KC last week, he came out on stage and just stared at the crowd while sipping a cup of coffee, and then just kinda strolled around on stage for a few minutes saying nothing. Looked like the boss just came into the board room, deciding which poor sap he was going to fire. Then to jump right into #41 was kickass. What a punch.

He and the guys are a breath of fresh air in a world of Paris Hiltons and Britney Spearses.

My only concern would be how much of a distraction he was but I guess if he was cool enough to meet and greet everyone at the beginning and get it out of the way, then they could just do their thing (the Habitat crew).

Mad Props to DMB ... What a great group of human beings.

Publicity and a fat check from Dave can be a nice distraction. And "no", I don't think too much work got done that day.

I wonder how much that house will go for, now that Dave and Carter help build it.

I'll buy it.
