Takamine
Since there has been a couple of comments on new Takamines, I'd thought I'd chime.
I played the AN16 yesterday and subsequently creamed my jeans. The tone is up there with any Martin, Taylor, or Gibson I've played. The true beauty of this piece was the action. It was quite simply the most playable guitar I've ever seen. I had never seen a bridge quite like it. The rings on the ends of the strings are held above the face by the bridge, keeping the action Very low, yet without buzz. Made me go home to my EG 240 and weep.
Anyhoo, I'm not a Takamine fanboy by any means, but the AN-16 was as nice a guitar I've ever played and I felt the brand goes underrated here.

Re: Takamine
do you really think gibson is up there with taylor or martin? i recently played all three at a music store. if the martins were a 10 on my scale, and the taylors were a 9, then to me the gibsons were a 4 maybe 5. i thought the sound was not good at allQuattroDore wrote:Since there has been a couple of comments on new Takamines, I'd thought I'd chime.

Martin and Taylor both have amazing tones. Both completely different. Id give Taylor a 10 and Martin a 9.5. i recently went to nashville and i went in the Gibson Showcase in the Opry mills mall. lemme just say that when i played a hummingbird i realized something - Gibson should stick with electrics. id go with the 4 for every Gibson acoustic ive played.

the other thing to remember is that every single guitar is different so on a whole you guys seem to have it right. but for a Tak i found one that was just beautiful and sounded just amazing and i've played a martin that sounded pretty dead. but that was just an isolated couple of guitars. never found a bad taylor but i think it is a tie between the martin/taylor battle. and like i played a gibson just 2 days ago that blew me away. but most gibsons don't sond nearly as good. so sometimes you just gotta find a diamond in the rough.

its easier to find the diamond you want in a group of diamonds than a diamond in the rough.
