Fuck all you Mayer bashers! I just saw him on the 13th, and he's amazing! His music isn't as acoustic drivin' anymore. He busts out his SRV strat and tears it up. So much respect for Mayer! Go buy the AGT DVD. If you though it wrong of him to kid around w/ the Dave thing, John makes fun of himself that whole concert on his audio commentary.

John has said in interviews that DMB inspires him, although he doesn't like to fuel the Dave Matthews comparison, he admires DMB's song structure.
Personally, I feel without Dave there would be no John Mayer. John Mayer is one of those here today, gone today artists.
Sucky vocals, syrupy sweet lyrics - plgght.
Just not my cup of tea.

Thats a rather big statement. John may indeed look up to dave, but if you listen to their music, they really don't sound a thing alike. and to say that he is already going to be gone... he's way too good for that.c_tietze wrote:Personally, I feel without Dave there would be no John Mayer. Of course that's your opinion too, however I really believe Dave Matthews paved the way for the slew of acoustic guitar playing singer songwriters like Mayer, Mraz, etc.elijah77jc wrote:Thats a rather big statement. John's music, at least to me, isn't anything special and if I could sum up what I think of his singing I would refer to the Jimmy Fallon John Mayer Christmas skit. LOL!

I think Mayer can smoke Dave on guitar, and both of them can smoke the rest of us. I believe Mayer won't be around in 2 years. That Dave impression by Mayer was hilarious. Also, Dave doesn't think about Mayer at all - when you are on top you don't do that. I think Dave thinks about himself and George Bush, more than anyone.
