Stay or leave question... please please look!

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Stay or leave question... please please look!

Unread post by 6_strings_for_life » Wed Aug 18, 2004 9:42 pm

I got a version of dave singing Stay or Leave on a video that i downloaded, and as soon as i heard it I knew that i was gonna get this song to perfection. But while looking at the tabs that are on this site and the video they are obviously different. All the begining is the same, but from the part where dave leads into the "rember when we used to dance" part. He plays most at about the 11-9 fret. The tabs here do not show that, but I figured mabey this is how dave plays it with the band. Does anyone know of this version? It is only dave and his guitar in the video. Does anyone knows of a place where i can get a tab for this version?? please help, i wont be able to sleep till i figure this one out!

you were probably watching sessions @ aol? anyway, this song is in raised b tuning, so unless you restring your guitar, you have to use a capo on the 7th fret

Code: Select all

 "Remember we used to..."
Think Gravedigger
 B:---8------0-----0--------
F#:---8------1-----0-----3--
 D:---9------2-----2-----2--
 A:---10-----2-----2-----x--
 E:---10-----0-----x-----x--
 B:-8-8----------3-3---2-2--
    1 4 2

If Playing w/ Capo, first chord played as:
E:-3--
B:-5--
G:-5--
D:-5--
A:-3--
E:----
the part you are seeing is the bar chord on the 8th fret. when you play it capoed, you can't go 8 frets past the 7th fret where the capo is, so you play the x35553, which is basicly the same as the 8th fret barr chord

I downloaded it from a program called Ares. There is no capo, and in this version im 75% shure he is using standard tuning...

i'm pretty sure your talking about sessions @ aol. and the guitar he is playing is in raised b tuning. you can see when they do a close up of his strumming hand, only the top two string are the woven kind or whatever.

so to play this song, you need to capo your regular guitar, or find an old guitar to restring into raised b. heres how: http://www.dmbtabs.com/faq.php?id=7

This is the part you are referring to. He is definitely playing in raised B.

Sorry that tabbing looks crappy, but you get the idea.

i just put new strings on and it doesn't sound too bad...Its better than having to restring a guitar.
