i dont know about being a better guitarist, but he is good, as good as dave....i dont think so!

Yes, he is. But Dave's a much better songwriter, I think.

mayer is a better soloist like wiht the electric and stuff but dave is a way way way better song writer.

I seem to recall John Mayer mentioning UTTAD as (I'm not quoting, here, just what I can remember) "the perfect example of acoustic somethin...." Ok, I just completely forgot what he said but it made me not hate him for 10 minutes because he praised UTTAD and Dave. I don't think Dave's ever said anything about Mayer though. I don't think he really cares. Mayer's playing in the wake of Dave, who completely opened up the whole acoustic thing and did new stuff with it.

my gf hates mayer because of this radio show he did when he was "channeling" other musicians and he says Ill do DM now, he plays some slidey funky thing and does some high pitch giberish. I wasnt too offended, it was kinda funny I thought. But I can see why it would piss people off who are dave obsessed and dont care for john to begin with

OH SHIT, I completly forgot about that! I used to have that clip on my old pc, but lost it when transfering my music onto my new one. I wasn't really offended either, it was actually kinda funny. If I can scrounge it up from somewhere I'll post it.
