i believe quakers broke off of the other puritans when they first came to america, and i think the quakers went down to pennsylvannia and virginia and stuff. quakers like peace and simplicity , and through their silent worship they believe god will come to nurture them. they also believe every human is equal and can be connected right to god and that there is no need for a priest or minister to be a "mediator"

Yeah, but about that Virginia and such, his parents were not from that area at all. Dave and his family didn't reach Virginia till a long time after South Africa.

I question by the grace of what we play our cards at all.

If at all God's gaze upon us fall, it's with a mischievous grin, look at him.

Ooh, my head is pounding now- God has all but left me behind.

I can't believe that we would lie in our graves, wondering if we had spent our living days well. (Sort of a disbelief in the afterlife.)

You're righteous, so righteous, so righteous, you're always so right- Go ahead and dream, go ahead believe that you are the chosen one. (Disbelief in Christ).

From hand to hand, wrist to the elbow, red, blood, sand, could Dad be God? Crosses cross, hold out like a wet rag. Forgive you, why? You hung me out out dry. (Definitely an unbiblical conclusion to the crucifixion tale. Christ said, "Forgive them father, for they know not what they do.")

She prays to God most every night, and though she swears it doesn't listen, there's still a hope in her he might.

All of the song Bartender.

I for one don't turn my cheek for anyone. (Also a biblical allusion unbiblical in nature).

No one ever stops to talk or thinks about it? If they ever did, what if God shuffled by?

All of the song Save Me.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Dave doesn't even know what Dave believes.
Stay with me, safe and ignorant.

I think Dave is like alot of us...searching for answers.
You're only as strong as the tables you dance on.

I always loved this quote:

"Any who seek him seek in him the seeker"

- Robert Frost

all soul searchers...

intersting little thing - there are saints days, kind of like a birthday where homage and reverance is given to that particular saint/s. adam and eve's day is december 24th. This kind of amazed me in regards to a tie between judaism and catholicism. Kind of brings the music and awareness into a new, sacred and interesting light.

just some thoughts...
