See, told you it was a ripoff everyone. Anyways as for my own style if youre referring to the chords well then yes thats not my style and I do feel I kind of have a style. If youre referring to the strumming or whatever I dont think you can call rhythmic strumming just Daves style, not saying thats what youre doing but some people think just cuz youve kinda got that strumming thing going on your copying Dave's style which I think is completely wrong. But anyways I should be posting some of my other originals soon, maybe not for a few weeks if I decided to wait until my friend and I get together so he can put lyrics on them. Havent decided yet but anyways thanks for listening/giving feedback.

cool...I was not saying there was anything wrong with it...complex rhythmatic dtrumming is my foundation as well...you just cant deny that it sounds like you are playing a Dave song...that can be a good thing though...anywho, I look foreword to hearing your other originals man...keep em' coming

Its kinda getting annoying looking everywhere and see " DAVE CHORDS " it ain't his , ain't like a copyrighted thing , and i mean do you see people say " Wow what a knock off , this guy is using xx0232 , 3x0033 .... Dave used them in a couple songs , so this guy must have gotten those chords from there " come on eh ....

Yeah well a d and a g chord are a little different then the other chords. Many people use the first two but Ive just never seen many people at all use the other "Dave" chords in any songs, he tends to use them a lot and the fact that my song consisted entirely of those chords does make it sound like a Dave song. But thanks for listening/critiquing, wait a second, you didnt mention my song, nevermind.

lol sorry bro , i was just getting pissed about the " DAVE CHORD " thing lol ....

I liked it , i can see what you mean by using " DAVE CHORDS " but its all good , and it doesn't exactly say " THIS IS A DAVE SONG " fuck it man go for it , don't hold back just cause some people might be so judging and say " I've heard that sound b4 " If they did that , then they should call up every band in the world and tell them not to use chords like D and G and so on lol ....

Keep on working on it bro , and i would be glad to listen to it on later stages as well :) all in all i like it

Well I have no idea what stacked 5ths are and I dont know how to play any Police songs so I dont know what that means. I think that SOS song uses the Satellite type chord or whatever, is that what youre referring to?

AdamCU81 wrote:I wouldn't say it's a ripoff just because you use the same chords. It's not like Dave made up those chords. And those chords are still basic when it comes down to it. The part that makes it sound similar to a Dave creation is the rythmic strumming. A ripoff would be if you took the same chord progression and wrote your own words. Don't take credit away from yourself.
See above.....man I wish you guys would stop calling them "Dave Chords" cause they are not. Its like Adam said....Dave did not make these up, and he definately wasn't the first to use them. (Just a little pet peave of mine....hehe!)

Dude your song was great.....sure its kind of Dave style but its not a rip off. Keep'em coming!
agreed, dave stole them all off sting who happened to actually learn why he uses them...

is it just me or does no one else realize that this song is a cover?? That is so obviously an attempt to play The General by Dispatch and the file is actually called "the general"...why would anyone try to pass off someone elses work as their own?

i'll apologize in advance if the song on the page has been changed since the original posting of this thread, but if it hasn't than i think my comments are justified...

I didn't realize using a musical technique is called "stealing." Apparently I was misinformed, at least according to you, Elliot. Thanks for clearing it up for me, bud. Appreciate it.
