Help me!!

Unread post by sbhanot » Fri Apr 25, 2003 9:24 am

I'm in the market for an acoustic electric guitar around 300-500 bucks, closer to 300 the better - I was wondering what you guys though a good guitar to go for would be - I was looking into the Epiphone Chet, but I've heard bad things... I need to know whats best for solo performances of dave stuff in this price range.... any suggestions? I really need them!

Well try everything you can get your hands on. My personal suggestion would be to check out Sigma guitars. They are made by C.F Martin Company. They are priced 250 and up. I own one along with my Martin HD-28V. I have always been happy with it. Solid guitar and priced reasonably. Try one out and tell me what you think.

if you can try a dean, you'll be pretty happy w/ it i bet. the exotica is such a sweet looking guitar and sounds great for the price.

i like this one. other sites tell what pickups they have etc (i think some kinda fishman)

Thanks for the advice - I was thinking maybe a solid top acoustic electric might be best... anyone know of any good solid tops?

Just a word of caution. A $300 solid top is not necessarily going to sound better than a liminated top. Especially if you get an electric. They are going to skim on other features of the guitar.

Yeah, I know, but I don't have a strict price limit, I just don't want to go way over 500 bucks (like, I don't want to approach 1000).... but 600 or so is still possible....

try playing or looking at some of the Takamine's. My guitar instructor dig them, I've played a few and they play pretty nice. They are also pretty cheap. Hope the link below works.

seagull guitars are absolute monsters in that range. get your hands on one before buying anything. also, look at used guitars. you can get a sweet used axe for $500

Take a gander into the Ibanez Artwood series. That's another great series of guitars to check out.
