Startin Song
I've been playin guitar for almost a year now and I'm able to play lots of songs...but lately I been tryin DMB songs and I find they're about 10 times harder than almost anything else. Im still tryin to figure out what would be a good song to start out with.

it is tough to think of the first song you should learn. the first song i learned was crash and then trippin' billies, so its however you want to learn it. i started learning the songs that were my favorite and once i realized how awesome dave's songs are i started learning the rest of them and now there all my favorite.
easy song to learn is song that jane likes. proudest monkey. i'll back you up. nancies. go from there.

thats all u can do
If your using your index, middle and pinky fingers, than thats pretty much all you can do. There aren't any alternatives that i know. The only thing that i can think of that might help is stretching your hand in that position and holding it for as long as you can.
Re: thats all u can do
On those notes, and anything similar dave wise, I have always used index, ring, pinky...I guess I am just wierd...Just more comfortable for me.BigSpeen3436 wrote:If your using your index, middle and pinky fingers, than thats pretty much all you can do. when it comes to playing that part of the song i don't use the standard pointer, middle and pinky. instead of going forward, i use my middle on 3, my pinky on 5, and then i go down 2 strings and back two to the 2nd fret on the G string with my pointer. its the same note, i just find that its easier for me to go back into the groove of the song from there. i can play it the real way but i prefer my way on that song. i use the standard way on satellite, but ofcourse dave does play satellite three different ways as well.
