Anyone else play LIOG...

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

With their ring finger and not the pinky? I do and it sounds fine but I just watched to video from 2002 and I feel awkward playing like that now...

I used to when I was first beginning.

But it's sooo much easier if you learn to use you're pinky.

It didn't take me long to figure it out, and I fuckin suck. Just work on it and it'll eventually work out.

i don't think it really matters how you play it as long it sounds the same... although i think it is good to use your pinky...the pinky is probably the hardest finger to develop.

My pinky's strength isn't the problem, its just muscle memory.

Its like learning to play the transistion in Satellite after working so hard to learn the Verse, I still kinda fumble because I'm so used to just playing it through and not switching which notes I'm hitting with each finger.

But I've been practicing LIOG a lot tonight and it's starting to happen so it'll get easier.

I don't use my pinky on that song either...... My pinkys perfectly fine and everythin but I think it's easier with the ring finger just cause mine moves so much quicker and such.

Yea, I'm talking about the verse. I just figure whatever sounds best. Like I still can't strum out 90% of Dave's stuff. Like Ants and stuff, I just pick it so it sounds good, I don't try to be just like Dave. It'd be nice though...

I still use my ring finger. It's probably because back then when I learned the song I was only learning very easy songs that didn't require big stretches that forced my to train my pinky, so I didn't even start using that finger until a couple of weeks later. O.o

I believe i've always used my pinky, but i think that's because the first dave song i learned was crash and so i started the whole pinky thing early. Its weird cause when i solo a blues scale i automatically use my ring....weird
