UPDATE = I've added another song and re-done the first one..

Ok, first of all, I re-recorded the first riff that I had up before. I changed the main chords a bit and created a better sounding chorus riff, I think. If you want to listen again, feel free.

I also recorded the very first song I ever wrote (guitar part only), which I came up with about two months ago. Please tell me, if you listen, if it sounds familiar...I swear I might have heard it before, but I swear I came up with it! I came up with a solo part at the end, too, but it's kinda hard to hear the chords differentiate, but it flows ok.

As I said before, the sound isn't quite clear. Hopefully eventually I'll be able to get some better recording equipment.

They are both just over one minute long. Just click the link in my signature, and go under the "My Originals."

Thanks everyone, peace :)

i like it, it's got that groovy, finger-snapping feel to it.

just a question, though, how are you doing the slaps? just with a fingernail? i have no end of difficulty doing that, and now i'm curious cos they sound real snappy.

thanks first of all....and a NO....for the slaps, well on this one anyway, i pluck the note twice, use the other fingers to hit the high notes, and then you slap the palm of your hand on the strings...the actual "slap" that you hear is the strings hitting the frets.

actually, let me correct that, it isnt the palm, its the hand basically, its like you make a "half-fist" where your fingers are curled in towards your palm, so you actually hit the strings with your knuckles...once you can get the rythm down, it can sound way cool

oh okay, i see... yeah, i've seen some people do that with their thumb before. never tried it, myself, but i think i will. it's got that snazzy 'i've got a guitar and i know how to use it' feel to it. 8)

even though in my case it's mostly academic, since i only know two songs that absolutely must be played with the fingers. i never was, for the first three years of my guitar playing life, a pick user, but i've since become one. and even back then i pretty much only used my thumb. used to have quite the thumb callous too.

i was definitely the opposite...i always used a pick...i dont really know why, it was just what i was used to...i have been sort of "inspired" to use fingers from stuff like PFWYG, Xmas song and Body is a wonderland

**UPDATE**

I added a chorus section. I know that with no lyrics it's kinda hard to listen to, but just let me know. Suggestions, critiques, etc. please. Thanks!

Thats a pretty cool little groove you've got going there. Come up with a decent melody for that, and you'll be set. I like it...mellow.

The tune that the lyrics follow basically. Melody.
