8 Originals

Unread post by firedancer86 » Thu Apr 24, 2003 5:40 pm

Some have been heard before, most have not...check them out...

sweet dreams - I wrote the original chords down when I was 11...

sunrise - I have been working with the verse progression for some time now...the rest was on the spot NO practice...the good lead part is around 1:50 area... the reat is a joke lol...

october - old as dust...I have fun playing the spontaneous jazz chords, and I love cranking out that lead...

down and out - I wrote (or improved) this one the night I got my DL-4...weird spacey Timstuff...

thinking out loud - I wrote this to occupy my fingers once...I like to play it sometimes...I have fun playing the ascention part at around 2:14...then slowing it down to half speed at 3:22

for her - I wrote for my girlfriend of almost 2 years now...

lost - like d&o, improved the night I got my DL-4...

before i change - this was written before I changed...strings...lol...funky open C-like tuning...NO PRACTICE at all here...off the hip on the spot...as raw as it gets ; )

hope you guys like them and leave some input and help give me some advice on these...

No offense man, but I think you're saturating the market here. All of these postings are a bit overwhelming. If you want some good feedback, highlight a song every 4-5 days, instead of nine at once. Just a suggestion.

Or just state which one or two your really proud of out of this list and I'll listen to it/them, eight is a pretty big list to listen to and critique.

well listen to one of them every 4-5 days...I didn't say to listen to them all now you know...if I can host all of them, then so be it...not trying to saturate anything...I have the space, so I put them up...Tico didn't/doesn't get accused of doing so...listen to one...listen to none...doesn't matter, I leave all of them up for people outside of the boards too...my site doesn't revolve around the board...

I'm not "accusing" anyone of doing anything. Of course you can host them all at once. I'm just saying that when I see a thread with "Check out my nine songs" as the subject I wont even look at it because it just sounds a little overwhelming. All Im saying is that if you make individual posts every so often about specific songs, you'll get more listens/critiques. Your post above with the  led me to believe you weren't satisfied with feedback...I was just making a suggestion to improve it.

Well, you dont really critique originals, not that I have anything bad to say, so I dont know really know what to say besides that song was pretty tight, especially if you wrote that when you were 11, damn. Around 3:20 there sounded like there may have been some off notes on the lead part but I dont know, it was really cool and mellow, I really liked it.

Sweet Dreams-

I really liked the song...very soothing. Have you written lyrics to the song yet? I think with some good words/melody, this could be a very solid song. I did like the accompanying melody you laid down on lead...maybe you could work with a few of those riffs for vocs? Or hell, just leave it as an instrumental piece. Either way, good job man. I cant believe you're only 16 - you're not even in your prime, which is scary. :)

thanks guys...I'm not sure if I would want to putvocals to it...I just focus on the guitar...and by the way, I only wrote the main guitar parts at 11...not any of the leads...again, alot of that was improv witht the leads, but thanks for taking al listen... :D
