Pick guards
Hey, two quick questions:
1. Does anyone know a specific guitar outfitter that could get a clear pick guard like Dave has on his 914's?
2. How easy is it to change those?
Thanks

Call up Taylor Customer service (the number is on the website). They sell them for like $4 and will ship one to your door. They are a bitch to put on though, because it's so easy to get little air bubbles trapped under them as you put it on and you can see them, obviously, with a clear guard.
With a lot of patience it can be done no problem. If you arent patient, take it to a good luthier to have it installed.

off topic....
i don't understand how one cannot use a pick for dave songs. i know that there is a whole different style of music(fingerstyle/classical..etc.) that doesn't require one but unless you have out-grown fingernails that resembles(sp?) a pick i just don't see how the correct sound is portraid(sp?)
p.s. i don't know why but my spelling is just off tonight.
p.s.s. this is not a rant/bashing, only a question put in statement form

I strum down with my thumb, and back up with my index. It gives more control over what you are playing, IMO. It does give a different sound, a warmer one. I can make it sound like a pick with my Pod Pro. You can't alternate pick, but if you work at it, you can strum and make it sound like alternate picking. I mastered it, and can play the stone and DIDO, and more like that, and it sounds like alternate picking and such.
Also, you can play really quiet with your fingers, while you have to play at a certain level to hear the guitar with a pick.
Also, you save money on picks, and never have to worry about them falling into the sound hole.
Also, dave plays Grace Is Gone and Everyday without a pick. Heathfliff is finger picked.
Fingers are the key, IMO
