new instrument
new instrument
I've been playing guitar for a little over four years now and have spent three years studying classical guitar and whatnot. I'm somewhat versed in theory and the like and I love just about all types of music. (Besides Bass) what instrument have you fine folks enjoyed taking up? Preferably your favorite second instrument that you would suggest for my next musical venture.

i got one word....DRUMS....man sometimes it just feels so good to bang on something. I got a couple friends at school and we do the whole trading instruments and rocking that way. i learned how to play drums and bass this way. and really it helps me to really pay attention to what they are doing. especially when i know not only what they are going to play but how they play it.
go buy some drumsticks (3.95 at GC) and start banging on stuff around the house. it is such a different part of music than the guitar and really has added a lot to my guitar as well.

piano is my secondary instrument, although I also second the drums idea as a good one. the violin is a great instrument, but it has one of the steepest learning curves of any instrument out there...

I don't know about other instruments, but I would love to take some classical lessons...I know a peice or two by Steve Howe...I even put up one of my covers of "leaves of Green"...solo/acoustic/classical...give it a listen and tell me what you think from your vantage pointc wrote:I've been playing guitar for a little over four years now and have spent three years studying classical guitar and whatnot. Like I said, I don't know about a new instrument...probably bass to get down some Chris Squire, Geddy Lee and some Mike Rutherford...might even throw in some Wooten, but that is WAY seciond to guitar...like I said though...now new instrument, but I would love to pick up classical lessons somewhere...that is a music all its own...
