Rhyme & Reason

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Rhyme & Reason

Unread post by elixer » Wed Nov 20, 2002 10:18 pm

OK, as winston so delicately put it before, I very well might be tone deaf, but...

I have 6 versions of rhyme & reason, all with the band, and this part:

Code: Select all

E:-----------------
B:-----------------
G:-x-----9---------
D:-x-----------10--
A:-x---------------
E:-x--8-----6------
doesn't sound right at all. I mean, the low-high-low-high is right, but it seems like 8 on the low E is too low of a note. granted i have never heard an acoustic version of the song and if i'm wrong, i am wrong. but i'm just not feeling it.

thanks,
sean

I'm pretty positive that's right. I've played it countless times with Listner Supported and never questioned it.
good, and you?

it's right, it's clear that's what he's doing on listener supported...someone posted an acoustic version of it on the bridge awhile back...I wonder if I still have that...it was sweet, tim ripped it up...

OK, so aside from the horrible muting, this sounds right?

during which part? i think it might be my attempt at muting, i really butchered it in that recording.

cool little thing dave pulls once in awhile is at the end of the riff

Code:
E:-----------------
B:-----------------
G:--x-----9-----10-
D:--x------------10--
A:--x---------------
E:--x--8-----6------

he hits both the 10th of the g an d on a up and down strum gives it a little change and kick i use it frequently

thought i would throw that in just cause rhyme and reason is a blast too play...

:-D

OK, so with the exception of the muting, that MP3 i posted sounds correct? No tempo problems or anything?
