How do I have all this stuff? 3 things
1 - My Dad
2 - College Money
3 - Luck!
1 - My mixer, mics, reverb, a deigital delay, power amp, fender amp, reverb stomp box, distortion stomp box, wah wah pedal. Those are all because of my Dad. First, he has some old stuff from when he was his best friend's band's soundman. Also, from when he fixed amps and effects on the side in the late 80s. The last, he gets old (but damn good) equipment from Ebay from people who have no idea what they have, lol. The last, x-mas and b-day presents. My studio mic here was an x-mas present, my fender amp and reverb stomp box are too. Also, years ago, he bought me my first acoustic.
2 - My Dad's uncle saved up a lot of money (and we know he has more sometime in the next few years). His wife is dead, he had no children, and I've never met him, but because he had no kids, for years he saved up money for me and my bro. I wasn't going to college, so I spent it on things I needed: car, dental (and I still need more), parents' money problems, and my nice Gibson Les Paul Studio.
3 - Luck. I will find something at a bargin. I have no luck for anything else. I got my line 6 Pod Pro that is worth 800 bucks, I got it for 400 (dad went broke for a while, since he decided I had to get it at that price). My arch top, an aquantince sold it to me cheap, not knowing what he was doing, the last I knew, he missed it, but we are out of touch now. My Fender acoustic that my dad bought, had a small stain flaw, so I got a lot of money off of it. And, my lovely Michael Kelly dreadnaught? Off the boards, I don't know where he is now, havn't spoken to him in a half a year, he doesn't seem to come on the boards ever, now. He found it dirt cheap at 250. He never played it, so he sold it to me at cost plus shipping and case. We now know the guitar is worth 800, and has herringbone binding just like a HD-28 Martin.
So, without luck, my dad, and the college money, I would be in shits-ville.

It also helps that you lie!Beauford33 wrote:I dont spend anything on cloths. Maybe the only thing I dont buy nowdays. Yea, so I dont spend any money I make. Plus, since I have a base pay plus commission, you can make a shit load that way.
Yes, I don't buy cloths either. I find after you get one or two for the sink, a couple to wipe the truck down with, and a few just for general purpose garage use, you need no more. Plus you can use the remnants of your flaming pants if they don't burn completely.
As for where I get my cash: Got myself a post college job paying a decent wage, used Buffalo Bros to upgrade with no loss in value a few times, and dad took good care of me with life insurance after he passed on- (which happened waaay too early so don't smoke!)

I own somewhat crappy guitars. I bought my first guitar (a classical style acoustic) for $20 at a garage sale. My second guitar (fender mexican strat) for about $350 with money from my 8th grade graduation. I got my last guitar (ovation acoustic) for christmas a few years back, but I know it cost about $250. Those are the only guitars I own. Since my parents aren't rich, I didn't take out extra loans, I'm not lucky, I don't have any rich relatives, and I have to pay for college 100% on my own, I guess I will not be buying any martins or taylors any time in the near future.

Worked my ass off for a year and a half at a shitty sandwhich place and ended up paying for gas and insurance and then I saved up 2k after a year and a half and bought my taylor. I just got lucky with the Gibson and inherited it.

I...sold thousands of dollars of paintball gear a few years ago. I had tons of that shit...I did national tournaments and whatnot and it was just a whole lot of money that could be better spent elsewhere. Now I get bigtime coin at work these days, win alot of snowboard stuff at contests...sell that on ebay or to friends for more money, and I get some good deals from a friend of mine who works at Guitar Center. I split about 50/50 into the bank one half, and the other for fun stuff.
