usually(or at least for me) the people who dont like the long jams are people who dont play instruments. not to bash them or anything, but they seem to be more into the words, so when a jam comes up, they hit "Next" because its boring to them. its mostly musicians who like listening to jams because they understand the parts both prominent and not, and how fun it is.
now, not all jams are good to everyone, i dont like seek up for example, i just think its boring, but i love jams and i love jamming myself.

I forget when, but I read about it in Step Into The Light. One time in 94 or 95, sometime them, they played a show that was with quite a few other groups, and I believe Blues Traveler was there. Cops came by, and told them to stop it. They agreed to let them play one last song. So the band gets up, gets a lot of the artists up on the stage. Then, Recently starts up. The song, they jammed it for over 30 minutes! The cops weren't happy

i agree with DJR07... I was the one who started that thread about the Seek Up jam from the gorge.
First of all (I know that there was no bashing intended), i play the guitar. Second of all, i normally enjoy the jams DMB does on for instance LIOG, WWYS, #41 and so on, but i just think that a jam doesnt really fit on a semi-sad melancholic song like Seek Up is. (one could argue that #41 is that as well, but i just find it a bit more lively).
But jams are great, as long as you have a good base for them. Which brings me back to my point about the Seek Up at The Gorge: The base for a jam of that length just isnt there IMO.

Yeah they had time to start one more song before the curfew(sp?). They arrived late and the concert didnt get started on time because of traffic problems. The band felt bad and wanted to make sure the crowd got what they paid for so they pulled out that forever and a day jam to try and appease them.

If your friend is already dead, and being eaten by vultures, I think it's okay to feed some bits of your friend to one of the vultures, to teach him to do some tricks. But ONLY if you're serious about adopting the vulture.
