Please Critique My WAREHOUSE Riff

Unread post by billywestom » Thu Apr 17, 2003 1:17 am

I know about the open strings I am hitting from time to time...that is a muting problem. Please tell me if my basic rythm is close...am I hitting the right notes at the right times..etc.

Youre on the right track, its not quite there though. It sounds like you stop while youre playing it. Youre right hand should not stop when you are playing this song, just go up and down up and down, and just make sure your left hand fingerings switch every two strums. Hope that helps.

Yeah, that could deffinatley be it too. You shouldnt be muting all the strings until you get to the end of the riff. There should always be muting below the note you are playing but you should here a note up until the end. I dont know if youve listened to my cover, it might help although I dont exactly play it perfectly either. Keep at it and post another riff of it again in a little while.

alright man, youre on the right track but it sounds a little off. After the first 7-9-10, you hold too long for the next 7 (on the g string.) Its difficult to describe. Not only should there be no pauses in your strumming hand, but your left hand fingers shouldnt really stop or change rythm until the riff is over. You're also missing the slaps...this is a really rythmic song, and I think the muted slaps add a lot when playing solo.

I made a clip of warehouse to help out jgsku with his slaps...I know I dont have much experience, but I feel this is one song I do quite well. If youre interested in hearing it, check out my site.
