so im getting a new guitar, and i wanted a taylor, but i wanted to know waht kind of guitar would sound good anyway, becsue im getting a matrix II pickup and getting it installed, so i wanted to know waht kind of price range im looking at. so a decent guitar, or a cheaper taylor, a pickup and instalation costs, any ideas? thanks yall

You should check out Larrivees' 03 series also. You could get a standard 03 (mahogany back and sides) for $500-600 and a 03R (Rosewood instead of mahogany) for $700-800. I have an L-03R and think it's great.

coughbullshitcough alvarez makes good guitars im not knocking them, but a Taylor Big Baby 307 you can talk a dealer into dropping the $550, to $400. and it sounds like a taylor, very nice, great sound, great to play. Never thought id find a great taylor for the price of an alvarez, but i did, and i too am planning to get a fishman added to it.

and btw, just to prove im not dissing alvarez, after i get the Taylor 307, im gonna buy a alvarez 12 string, me and my friends agree its the best 12 string we've ever played.

but as for spending like $400-$500 on a guitar the taylor will beat an alvarez.

Umm yeah, I 'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you on this one. The Big Baby has laminate back and sides and that makes a huge difference in the tone. In my opinion you can get a lot more guitar for that much money.
