Not the most interesting topic but I'll share a bit about myself with y'all. I always play alone and to be honest to get the gall to get up there and play originals I often have to get liquored up. I always play like shit.
Anyone able to play well messed up? I maintain that it is very difficult to play stoned or drunk, and I've always thought it was a fallacy that "I play better high," etc. Of course that would be with the exception of Robert Nesta Marley. Lol.
Stories, rants, please post 'em.

I can play just as well, I know this for a fact, a) Because I've recorded myself and B) I've done open mics while fucked up and been told wow that was the best so far.
Originals always come out better while under the influence.

I dont play infront of strangers or crowds really so I dont have to pump myself up to get the gall to play ever. But when I get to drunk, I cant play at all, theres a certain point after like 6-7 beers or so when my hands just lose it.

honestly i find that i'm more creative when i'm stoned/drunk....i don't know if my guitar playing is hurt/improved, but i definitely know i've come up with better riffs while 'influenced'...i have no idea why..maybe this is bizarro world

Sometimes I have a the tendency to "go for it" when I'm playing and singing if I'm in an altered state. Meaning going for that yell, that solo, that killer jam, etc.
I have to admit I have tape upon tape of really, really horrible stuff which at the time I thought was good because I nearly drank my weight in Olde English. Lol!

The key is to find the the right level of intoxication where your relaxed but your reflexes don't go to hell. For me that's about 2 beers and maybe a hit or two off the old pipe. Any more than that and I get sloppy as hell.
