I'm at 56%

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

I'm at 56%

Unread post by Levi » Wed Nov 20, 2002 4:02 am

I was bored in my computer science class today, so to pass the time I decided I'd find out the percentage of Dave's song I could play. I only counted the songs on the 5 major releases, plus the 7 songs on Remember Two Things that aren't on any of the other CDs, and I only counted the songs that I could play all the way through. I just got The Stone up to speed and got the rhythm of Raven down so that put me up to 56%. So if you guys need to kill some time and are good at elementary math, figure out your "Dave percent" and post it.

I also noticed that the Everyday CD is dragging me waaay down, too much weird tuning and I have no real desire to learn most of 'em anyways...

Apparantly I have an 89%. They Everydays brought it down a bit but a lot of them are fun to play I didn't touch Mother Father, DOOF, Sleep to Dream her, or So Right. maybe some day. You Never Know's tuning is baritone up one octave I think :? so I can't do that one but I tried the Standard way but couldn't. Then there's The Last Stop and Dreaming Tree which I've doodled with but really don't know well. I got a hundred percent for Crash, UTTAD, and R2T. :) This has been fun, but there's also a few that arn't on the albums like Granny, #40, #36, Help Myself, Deed is Done, Little Thing, etc. but who's counting :P

peace,
Ken

I'm only at 35% that I can play completely. But if you add the 12 songs that I ALMOST have (and will probably have by the end of today since I have nothing going on today) it brings my percentage up to 54%

I still completely need to learn:
STJL
Minarets
Seek Up
IBYU
LLD
Warehouse
PFWYG
DIDO
Let You Down
PNP
Rapunzel
Last Stop
Dreaming Tree
Pig
Spoon
All of Everyday (minus TSB, Angel, Everyday)
Busted Stuff
YNK
GiG
KKJ
DAD

Wow, that's a lot I still need to learn completely. Hopefully I can finish off the 12 that I ALMOST have, so i'll be up to a full 54% after today. I think it's amazing I can play that many songs just from memory, it's kinda cool, cuz I don't even think about it anymore.

yeah its cool, and somewhat strange. You're turning into a guitar player!! and the more you play and learn, the more you want to play and the more you will play and the quicker you'll get better. You've entered the Black Hole that is DMB songs - once you get in close enough -there's no escaping its pull :)
good, and you?

I think I can play just about everything except for some of the really oddball songs that were played once or twice like mothers night, toy soldiers, kind intentions, anything on any album and most unreleased stuff I can do if need be in some way or form...as in You Never Know is a little akward...not to say I'd do them that well at this point because I never practice, but I could pull it off pretty good
