I love that they just recycle the tabs over and over again ...

Whitey McWhiterson's "I'm So White" Tab!

Well gee whiz, I remember seeing that tab back in '93 ... and '96 ... and '98 ... and ...

Guitar mags are pretty much crap.

Guitar world acoustic is definitly a good mag. but you only get 1 issue every 2 months(6 total) and there isnt that much to read in them. But it is still the best mag that i have come across(musically).

Question: are the tabs and transcriptions that these magazines have very accurate? I mean I imagine they would be but you never know. also is the regular Guitar world strictly for electric guitars with the same type of stuff? Thanks for all the feedback on this. I think I might buy and issue at borders or b&n and just check it out.

I would say GWA is probably best for the music mostly talked about on these boards. I'm not a big fan of Guitar World, GuitarOne is okay has some decent lessons in there but for some reason GW and G1 both seem to be sucking Zakk Wylde's cock! he's a great guitar player but he is either on the cover or has an article in almost every issue.. both geared towards heavier music but the tabs are fairly accurate.

The solo sucks? Are you crazy? The solo is amazing and one of the hardest guitar licks that there is to play without question...what is it about the solo that sucks?

As for Guitar Mags, Acoustic Guitar World is your best bet if you just play acoustic really. If you are more into electric than go with the regular Guitar World.

As for the overlapping of guitars, one of the reasons that I like them so much is because they used and experimented with some interesting recording tactics, like recording guitar in long hallways.
Yea, I have that DVD, and that solo is pretty good, but I don't like it as much as the studio solo... and it's certainly not the same.

from the tabs I have seen, all DMB songs that GWA transcribes are pretty accurate. Beatles stuff too is pretty accurate.

It actualy seems like they care about music in GWA. They also interview new and other artists about acoustic guitars and their inspiration and such. Some of the interviews are really good. On the latest one, it has a huge article on Waren Hayes. Pretty much, GWA is an all around very good magazine. If you like music (mainly acoustic guitar) this is a good one. the rest are just too cocky and flashy, and just plain stink. GWA is one worth picking up every issue, it's always has something to read.

(oh yeah, they also conquer kewl things. In the latest one, they transcribed a behhtoven song and also did an acoustic arranged version of Roxan by the police, both are well done.)

Good point. GW(A) is to guitar as Rolling Stone is to music. There are some good articles and reviews but generally the content is a little too pop for me. There's almost always an Avril Lavigne transcription or some other overplayed shit in there. If your into mainstream music than GWA is a good bet otherwise go with: Acoustic Guitar, Fingerstyle, and Guitar Player.
I usually just sit in Borders for a few hours and read them all for free. :D

I can't tell the difference between those magazines. I don't think I've read one in 5 years.

I haven't read any other mags but my relatives gave me a subscription to GuitarOne and let me tell you, it sucks ass hardcore. I actually cancelled my subscription when one came to my door with John Mayer on the front proclaiming "The Next Guitar Heroes!"
