Couple of Mraz covers

Unread post by Too Step » Thu Jul 15, 2004 6:16 pm

I'm after some input on the following as i haven't made many covers before... You & I Both i'm more bothered about the vocals and Curbside Remedy is just an idea i had to mix Curbside Prophet and The Remedy up a little.

Uhh, I have no idea who he is so I can't comment on how much sounds like him.

However, I think you still need some guitar work.

Mad props to posting them though ... takes some guts and I encourage you to keep at it :)

You don't know who Jason Mraz is? That's too bad, you should check him out.

As to the covers, they were pretty good. Your voice has potential but needs some work (and it sounded like you were scared to sing). You played the guitar part very simply, which wasn't at all bad, but it might give them a bit more oomph to play them the way Jason plays them.

Thanks for the comments :D

I ain't being funny or ungrateful for the comments but that is the way Jason plays those songs. Could you expand?

I always thought my voice would be good with some singing lessons. Do you think it would be worth it?

I only listened to Y&IB because when I first looked at the thread the link to the first one was broken.

You played it similar to the way he plays it, but without the... hmm.. "activity", for lack of a better word. For the majority of the song you were strumming the chords without some of the fills. And it wasn't "out there" enough. Just my opinion, though :P

Yes, I think your voice would be greatly improved with lessons and would more than likely sound great. You would just need to work on your endurance (being able to hold the notes) and being able to hit the notes exactly (tone-wise).

I agree....try to just let loose w/ the voice and see what happens. If it sounds bad, then oh well, but you gotta just go for it

yeah dude, not bad...

as mentioned above, you're voice needs a little work...actually maybe not so much your voice, as just the volume and passion need some tweaking... you sound like you can every note singing half volume....try to practice singing louder and you'll sound even better

nice job man
