when you say pop, all i think of is britney spears, christina aguilera, and all the shit that's on the radio now. i don't see dave anywhere near being pop.

i see pop as something that is catchy and easily enjoyed by most casual music listeners. those songs fit that descriptionfortyoneantz wrote:when you say pop, all i think of is britney spears, christina aguilera, and all the shit that's on the radio now. i don't see dave anywhere near being pop.

thank youMWR wrote:Pop is short for popular and Dave certainly fits into that catagory. There's plenty of great pop music but people constantly confuse it with BUBBLEGUM pop i.e. Brittany, N'sync, and everything else on Mtv.fortyoneantz wrote:POP SUCKS

oh, I thought you were agreeing that he was useing G more, and therefore becoming closer to pop. And then you said you didn't like the direction his guitar work was taking. I guess I read it wrong, but you still didn't have to get defensive.fatjack wrote:actually i didn't, me not liking his new guitar work has nothing to do with what key its in, that comment was merely an aside to the "key of pop" issuethepackage0 wrote:fatjack wrote:did i ever say anything about not liking songs in the key of G? no, i sure as fuck didn't.thepackage0 wrote:I like songs that sound good, regardless of what key they're in.
its just overused in pop because its an easy key to sing in and write guitar based music withyea, I belive you did.. calm downfatjack wrote: if you say he is basing a lot of his new riffs around the G chord, chances are the key of the songs will be in G, all pop music is in either C, G, or D, and to a lesser extent F. its that simple.
i really hate the direction his guitar work has taken lately, there is no creativity to it, its all bland and common.
so why would that be a bad thing?fatjack wrote:i see pop as something that is catchy and easily enjoyed by most casual music listeners. those songs fit that descriptionfortyoneantz wrote:when you say pop, all i think of is britney spears, christina aguilera, and all the shit that's on the radio now. i don't see dave anywhere near being pop.

i disagree. you make things very complex and detailed. music is music, you either like it or don't like it.fatjack wrote:i see pop as something that is catchy and easily enjoyed by most casual music listeners. those songs fit that descriptionfortyoneantz wrote:when you say pop, all i think of is britney spears, christina aguilera, and all the shit that's on the radio now. i don't see dave anywhere near being pop.
