Some one should create a forum about Live Sound. That would be fun!

You might wanna look at Full Sail. They have some amazing programs and it is an excellent school.
They have two programs you should look at
Show Production And Touring

For Recording Arts I saw Full Sail Mentioned .... Gregt School (only for REcording)... also Exsression is another great school... which I feel is better than Full Sail. We are strictly talking about recording... now for a live sound degree... there is no school; even thought schools offer it DON"T DO IT. The only way to learn live sound is to do it... don't ever let anyone tell you the same. I have been working for my production company for about a year and about four times the owner has hired people from Full Sail with a live sound Degree... they are serious jokes... This is how the conversation went. "Hey my name is Matt... the four year graduate from Full Sail," "Oh Matt hows it going... umm just sit right there". I Always get more board time than any graduate... because in school they teach you what a compressor/gate/limiter/gain structure.. sould look like... if you know what everything does just use your eyes... not what the book tells you. I frown apon schools with live sound degrees...but for recording FUCK YEAH...Thats what I'm doing. If you want to do live stuff get hooked up with a crew...local or traveling and have some fun....it is VERY VERY hard work. On a normal day I work 40-50 a week of LABOR... in that week we will work some 6 hour days and some 15-18 hour days. On busy weeks I have worked 148 hours in ONE WEEK. But if you have any other questions please feel free to ask... and I will do my best to answer!

The industry is kind of messed up. It's all about WHO YOUKNOW... if a school has a good contact in the industry do it. Also look at if they have great set ups... I'm talking about Industry Standard now .... not 10 years ago. If they have the tools and you have the talent and a good conecction into the industry go for it.

You know I know nothing about MTSU. What do you know? Just remember this no one can teach you HOW TO MIX... because mixing is an art... It really is... every engineer has their own sound... and when bands look for an engineer they are looking for that sound. I know it sounds like a geeky thing but engineers are just as much of an artist as the band themselfs. So my point is... you learn the THEORY of mixing... if they have the tools and you have the talent do it... I would love to hear more about MTSU, I'm very interested.
Would I be out of my mind to get a recording arts degree if I'm not sure thats what I want to do?CheersDtoT wrote:For Recording Arts I saw Full Sail Mentioned .... Don't get me wrong I'm very passionate about music and the studio in particular but I'm not sure if I want to make it a career.
You also mention expression center. Thats the one in Berkeley right? I have reserched that school a bit cause it's near where I grew up and I know somone who went there for a visual media degree.
