I've Done it!!!
it's been a week since I started playing guitar, but I can play the verse/intro of Satellite!! It just clicked for me today and i can finally get my fingers to move to the right frets at a decent pace. It's just a tiny bit slower then dave actually plays it but it actually sounds like satellite!!! I'm not sure if this was the right forum to do this or not but i figured it is dave and guitar so i put it in here. I'm psyched though, it's definately a big confidence boost for me.
If I can I'll try to record it and put it in the recording forum for anyone who wants to listen.

no just my thumb and index finger for right now
i actually used this tab that I found on another site though. It sounded great up until the end at like D6 A3. So I just play it A4, D6, A4, A3, E4. It's longer then the one on this site (i realize it is repeating as shown) but for whatever reason i picked it up easier.
Intro: (Riff A)
E||------------------|------------------|------------------|------------------|
B||------------------|------------------|------------------|------------------|
G||------------------|------------------|------------------|------------------|
D||-------8-----6----|-5-----3-----6----|-------8-----6----|-5-----3-----6----|
A||----6-----4-----3-|----1-----4-----3-|----6-----4-----3-|----1-----4-----3-|
E||-4----------------|------------------|-4----------------|------------------|

I suggest you learn it how it is on this site. That way may sound good but it's not the way that the song is played and you'll get much better at playing dave if you learn the real wayGrachi wrote:no just my thumb and index finger for right now

satellite was actually the first song i ever learned to play a couple years ago, using the version on this site, its really easy if you break it into 3 sections of 4 notes, then put it together, thats what i did...also if you use the one on this site, not only is it the way dave plays, but you dont have to move your hand position up and down the neck, just keep your thumb in one spot and pivot your fingers around it in a fluid motion...

oh i thought it was just another way of playing the song
. i guess i..er.. kinda learned it then.. But thanks for the tips on breaking down the one on this site though. it will help me learn it this way. Until i get it down that way, i can still impress my girlfriend with that one, which still sounds like satellite. Hey, she won't know the difference

dont sweat it, the tab you listed is the way tim plays it on UTTAD...you can hear the sliding down the strings if you listen. tell them you're playing it tims way and tell them to back off

there are many ways to play a song so don't sweat it. If you don't play it exactly like Dave who the hell cares.Grachi wrote:oh i thought it was just another way of playing the song. i guess i..er.. kinda learned it then..
