OPINIONS++++Fender Delux Super Strat

Unread post by NJPearce22 » Sat Jul 10, 2004 9:44 pm

Ok...so I've been browsing for an electric guitar to get for my birthday. I'm probably gonna have to split with my parents and my grandparents and aunt are gonna get me an amp. I think I've finally found the guitar for me! The Fender Delux Super Strat! I just wanted to know if anyone's played one? Any comments? I need to go downtown to World of Music and see if they have one in stock and try it out, but I was looking for opinions first.

http://www.fender.com/products/show.php?partno=0139402#

That's it, but I'm probably gonna go with the crimson transparent or brown sunburst. Maple fretboard probably too.

http://www.fender.com/products/show.php?partno=2267200

This is the amp that I was looking at! I messed around w/ it at the music store and I love it. It has everything that I need right now. Plus it's only $399!

Any comments and stuff on both the guitar and amp would be appreciated!!![/url]

I'm in love with the vintage Fender tone though! It's not for everybody!

Would you reccommend any others in the $400-$500 price range?

I'm actually consicdering looking at a pwn shop for some vintage Fender stuff. There is a 70s Strat on Ebay that i'm watching too. 2 days left and its only up to $102.50!

im really not much with amp knowledge... just go to a big shop and play with as many as you can
go with a tube one for sure
but ive never played the dsp fenders so i really shouldnt diss them
i was just saying im not a really big fan of digital

what i would do is get a decent smaller combo tube amp, then save some money for some stomp boxes

but thats me... really you have to try stuff and go with what you like

i really dont have experience with pawn shops.. but if they let you play it and it works nice.. then im all for it

i would be careful on ebay... i have a weird feeling that theres somthing wrong with the guitar if a vintage fender strat is only at 100 bucks almost at the end of the auction.. but who knows
i bought a martin off ebay a few years back but it was kinda risky but i got a good deal on it.. so what the heck
if the guy has good feed back then you shouldnt have a problem
you can always email and ask all the questions you want

i will look for some amps for you

100% feedback...hes a drummer that bought a guitar and wants to get rid of it! comes with a vintage case too!

And thanks for looking...I'd like to go tube, but most are expensive! although ther is the Fender Hot Rod Blonde Blues Junior for $399...I'll have to check it out!

ahh
that vintage strat might deserve another look

as far as the amps.. i really dont know.. honestly ive never bought a good one
all ihave is a crappy practice pawn shop amp that my uncle gave me, a little crate, and a vintage gibson cabinet that im long term borrowing
so im really not the man to consult as far as that
but i can say.. go for tube, you wont regret it, the performance of a tube amp over any solid state is phenominal

i look for some amps on americanmusical.. but i really didnt know.. all the decent fenders have dsp.. which isnt a bad thing at all.. just i dunno..ive never used it i guess.. so just try one out

but really... spend the extra cash or whatever for a tube amp, you wont regret

look for some reviews on that dsp stuff

and feel free to ask any more questions

what is 15 watt tube power compared to in the solid state category??? I'm guessing that their different. I've played Marshall half-stack tubes and randal half-stack solid heads, and the power difference is easily seen/heard. tubes rock!

Try to find an older one if you can ... I think the newer ones cheap out on components unless you get one of the $2500 ones :)

a fender blues jr. is extremely loud for a 15 watt tube amp. its above the norm in volume. my 80 watt tube amp is more power than i need, but its good to have the extra headroom. id recommend anywhere from 40-60 watts... unless you dont play out or anything. just in your room 15 will be more than enough.
