I have the 12 string version of that and i love it, great tone for a guitar of that price range.

I dislike Yamaha's. It's hard to find one that pleases me. I like the old Country Jumbos though.

the one that i'm looking at is a limited edition i think...its $299 at guitar center and it looks really nice....solid spruce top with pearl inlays along the body and neck....there are better sounding guitars for sure but this is the only one i can afford....i'd love to get a better one but its gonna cost me.

whatever you do, don't go fender! (first line in my signature)

and again Yamaha's are very hard to get a good one.

Alvarez's is one of those you can't recommend, you have to try it out, in the wise words of my leader:

"Alvarez's are some of the best and also some of the worst guitars I have ever heard, just try them out."

DOn't go low price Taylor and Martin.

Taylors and Martins only get good when we are tlaking second jobs to get them

Best acoustic under $500

Unread post by scottwagen » Sat Jul 10, 2004 6:51 am

The best acoustic for under $500, if you can find em' is a Norman B20 CW. Its a small company in Quebec Canada that makes absolutely amazing guitars that aren't too expensive at all. I have this guitar and the 12-string version of the same and I will never part with either of them. If your interested the web address is http://www.normanguitars.com

Don't get a seagull. They have great tone for the money, but their playability blows. I own one.

Well the way I would go would be either a Takamine or a low end Martin. I just recently got a 000X1 martin at guitar center for $415. Sounds just like a Martin with a solid spruce top and HPL back and sides. HPL sounds better to me over regular laminate, it isnt a bright and it has more bass. You could get a DX1 for around the same price if you are looking for a dread.

In musicians friend they have those spruce/mahogany and spruce/rosewood D-15's. I havent seen one in person but they sound like a great deal. It was like $800 for basically a D-28 without the finish and a few ornamental things.
