Should i? (pedal purchasing question)

Unread post by Pickles » Thu Jul 08, 2004 1:37 pm

Welp, i got lucky and found a good deal on a Boss TU-2 for $65 + $12 shipping... unfortunately the shipping makes it about equal to a new one on samash.com.

but, the guy also is selling a BD-2 blues driver that i might get.. i really like the pedal, and itd be nice to have. $45 asking price. hed knock $10 off if i bought both, making it $100 + $15 shipping. a new BD-2 is about $70, so at samash.com it would be $150 + shipping, as opposed to $115..

i only have $200 and no job.... should i?

edit: grr i put neither as an option too but it didnt work.

I love my TU-2, I don't know what I would do with out it...

Have you played the BD-2? How does it sound, I've thought about getting one but haven't had a chance to test it out yet.

I say go for both if you are going to get a deal. :)

On the fly tuning while you are on stage. It's a pedal and when you hit it the output is turned off so you are free to tune (without anyone hearing it) and unplug and plug in different guitars without turning the amps off.

and it can supply power to any other Boss pedal (maybe others too?) that are in your effects chain

<smacks forehead> I knew I was forgetting something. I have mine powering my Octave, DD-3 and Distortion. Yeah, if you don't have the tuner, then it's $20 per power adapter per pedal.

It's ok, I'd like to get the new one they just came out with though. There isn't much to do with it really, in my opinion. I use it with my DL-4 loop sampler to just add a bit of depth to the loops. I picked it up cause I have been a fan of Howie Day for the LONGEST time and now I use it for my own stuff. Not something I would go out and buy right away if you don't need it. It does take some twaeking to get it to sound deep a good.

Oh, and you can only play one string, one note at a time or else it sounds funky. Though, I have found that if I try to hit all the harmonics on the 12th fret, it sounds like rolling thunder off in the distance (if I do it right). It's kind of a cool this to put in there. :)

i think the TU-2 needs to be combined with another pedal. It is a simple circuit and it's not like it would be that unreasonable to combo it with a Noise Suppressor, etc. i think most of the price is the actual pedal. you could throw that thing against a wall and it would probably only work better to spite you.
