Help make Best of DMB CD!

Unread post by NJPearce22 » Wed Jul 07, 2004 10:51 pm

Well, the other day I went over to my dad's house w/ my guitar! We started jamming to some blues. I played my guitar and he played harmonica! Good Times! Anyways, after that took place, I busted out some DMB. He asked me what it was and I sat it's Dave Matthews Band. He said that he's heard of them, but never heard any of their songs. So now I want to make him a 2-3 CD (15 songs each)set, "The Best of Dave Matthews Band."

I was thinking the first cd would cover from R2T to Crash. Disc two would be BTCS to Some Devil, and the third disc would be live stuff (CP, L@LC, The Gorge, etc.) I was hoping you would help me compile the best list of songs possible to show the truth that there is behind DMB! (Songs on the live CD should only appear on disc 3. NO REPEATS! )

Disc one: The Early Years (R2T, UTTAD, & Crash)
1.) What Would You Say
2.) Two Step
3.) One Sweet World
4.) So Much to Say
5.) Tripping Billies
6.) Lie In Out Graves
7.) Drive In, Drive Out
8.) The Best of What's Around
9.) Crash Into Me
10.) The Song That Jane Likes
11.) Recently
12.) Dancing Nancies
13.) Seek Up
14.) Say Goodbye
15.) Ants Marching

Disc two: The Road to Fame (BTCS, Everyday, Busted Stuff, & Some Devil)
1.) Pantala Naga Pampa ...> Rapunzel (counts as one track in my book)
2.) Stay or Leave
3.) Gravedigger
4.) Don't Drink the water
5.) Stay (Wasting Time)
6.) Where Are You Going
7.) Space Between
8.) So Damn Lucky
9.) Big Eyed Fish
10.) Grace is Gone
11.) Grey Street
13.) The Stone
14.) Crush
15.) The Last Stop

Disc three: Live With Much Love (all official live releases) (only 10 tracks)
1.) Jimi Thing (Live at Luther College)
2.) #41 (Live at Luther College)
3.) Help Myself (The Central Park Concert)
4.) Granny (Live at the Gorge)
5.) Everyday...>#36 (Live at the Gorge)
6.) Warehouse (The Central Park Concert)
7.) Satellite (Live at Luther College)
8.) Halloween (Live at Luther College)
9.) Minarets (Live at Luther College)
10.) All Along the Watchtower (The Central Park Concert)

Any changes or reccomendations are welcome! Just state the disc # and track with a better substitute and I'll take it into consideration! Also, if you believe that the order could be changed to make the CD better, feel free to comment!

Thanks guys!

i know you got no repeats...but hes gotta hear the funk ants intro(and i would put ants first on whatever CD its on...this isnt a concert so the first one is the one where the listener has the most attention)...and i think the CP dont drink the water puts all other versions to shame but thats my opinion(i dont really like the studio version). and i dont mean to sound picky but on disc 3 i think a better granny and jimi thing version are at CP and a better #41 is LS.

good stuff tho...i tried to do this myself but gave up cuz i couldnt narrow it all down.

You should give him a really good D&T cd too, like 4/22/93 or one from 99 (I cant remember the one that is awesome from that year)

Looks good but I think these are essentials for the third disc:

Seek Up from Red Rocks
Bartender from Folsom
The Last Stop from the Central Park Bonus Disc
-Brian

Be excellent to one another.

D&T version of "the stone" is way better than the studio, imo.

"the maker" on Chicago is pretty good too.

i think a casual or non fan would like the LS from chicago more then CP bonus LS. just because the ending is golden. but any last stop is a good last stop, except studio.
