Just spent two hours at Guitar Center and came up with this:

I played probably every Taylor they had in the "Acoustic Corral" (i think every model but the 9 series) and every Martin as well. I came to the conclusion that I just do not like the sound or feel of a Taylor guitar. It's just not for me. I am in love with the Martin tone. I think I am forever a Martin girl. I gave Taylors numerous chances and I just don't like them, it's crazy I guess. I know Taylor makes a beautiful guitar, but I just don't go for the sound and feel. Martin guitars do it for me. Just thought I'd share with all you guys. :D

Well, it's settled, we can never be together then.

But that's great, most people wouldn't put that much time or thought into it and just buy something because they heard it was cool. :)

I'm just puzzled, Taylor makes a phenominal guitar. I guess they're just not for me. I really sat there for 2 hours with my friend Adam (same kid I did the B+P for) and tried each one while he looked around and purchased a new guitar..he bought a Taylor. The one he bought is actually the only one that was decent for me. It was the 110.

The 110 is the only Taylor Guitar that you liked?

Wow, That's their worst guitar.

But its still a well made guitar for the price, my friend has one, and it sounds great.

Yeah, I've played it.

But Damn, I wouldn't say it's my favorite of all Taylor guitars.

Ditto, I'm somewhere in the 7-6-9 hundred series as far as favorite's go. My brother has a 615ce which is cool but I can't get the same guitar as him he'd be pissed. Actually, he'd be mad if I got anything better than him, oh well. :P

also, i forgot to talk about gibsons. i played like four gibsons they had..they only had 4 acoustics. i HATE them. more than taylors. i mean, i don't hate taylors at all actually, i just don't really like their sound, they're not for me. but i hate gibsons. the tone was horrible, as well as the feel. they just sounded really crappy. it was weird, i was expecting to walk into the store and be blown away by these guitars. like i said before, i guess i'm just all about Martins. oh well, everyone's got their opinions!

Er it sounds ok at best. Its overpriced for how it sounds.

I haven't played a 9xx yet so this is based on everything else....The only Taylor 6-string that catches my eye that I've played so far is the 714. It sounds pretty good.

Yes, It does sound good. But compared to anything else other than the baby, It's just blah.

It's their worst guitar.

Your experience with Gibson acoustics is very similar to the one I had the last time I went to Guitar Center. I believe it was a Gibson Songwriter or something like that. Anyway, it was gorgeous! It was used and I think the price was like $800. I picked it up expecting to be blown away by it, and it sounded like shit! It had a real brassy tone to it. The $250 Yamahas sounded better. I played a couple more Gibsons and they all had a similar "brassy" tone. Real disappointing considering how expensive they are.
