Gorge CD Box Set Reviews
Well, I downloaded the new gorge cd's, havent seen the DVD yet, but I have mixed feelings for the songs on the CD's, some are the best Ive heard, some are the worst Ive heard. Either way, when I blast it on my stereo it feels like Im there. The mixing on these tracks is phenomenal.
PNP - Rapunzel
Great version, lots of energy, impressed.
The Song that Jane Likes
Probably the best version Ive heard, I love the song anyway.
Fool to Think
Its Fool to Think, not bad, but not good either. Im not a huge fan of the song, but good version.
You Never Know
This is one of the ones where I thought it was one of the worst versions I heard. I can turn the YNK on from the Bonus CD and really get into that one, but this one seems to be lacking the 'umph' of that one. Still not bad.
Granny
No Complaints here, good version.
Gravedigger
Like everyother Dave solo Gravedigger.
Everyday
Up there on my fav versions of this song, this version has an erxceptional amount of energy and I like the whole 'see you over there in the corner..." deal at the end. Great Version, impressed.
Two Step
Not a bad version, Stefan, Butch, and Carter rip the balls off this song, they are such great musicians. I was missing the upbeat latin groove in the middle tho, I love that jam, but they werent in the mood to play it I guess...
Drive In Drive Out
This is possibly the worst version of the song Ive ever heard. Lacking its energy, cant even hear the violin in this one and you need the violin during the end energetic jam. It sounds like its just Leroi and it sounds horrible. Didnt like this one at all.
The Space Between
I like this song and this was clean and crisp, Great Version.
Kit Kat Jam
Awesome Awesome version, Leroi shows everybody whos boss. Wish he did the plastic asshole lyrics. Up there on my fav versions of this song. If you wanna hear the best Kit Kat Jam download 07-26-2002, unbeatable.
Lie In Our Graves
THE BEST version Ive ever heard. My respect for Stefan, which is already huge, has grown a great deal from listening to this. Everyone got a jam in on this song and all of it sounded great. Very impressed and happy with this song, very.
Proudest Monkey
Another Best Version Ive ever heard. Loves stefans effects in the beginning, that kinda sound like a monkey I guess... yea... is that Flinstone tease thing in the beginning by Leroi, I think it is. The jam is phenomenal and Proudest Monkey probably doesnt get much better.
Warehouse
Deff an awesome version, but out of all the times he played warehouse, Ive heard better, like CP. Deff attention worthy tho, great version
Overall, great couple of CDs that really puts Dave back on the board for me. Daves voice was on the entire concert, he sounded like he did back in the mid-90's and it sounds great. Carter shows everyone he is the best drummer alive in the mainstream in these Three Nights. Stefan is growing as a bassist with every official release, you can see this with the new songs too, i.e Sugar Will. I dont think there are any limits for Stefan as a bassist. Leroi is the most talented in the band IMO, he plays an array of instruments and plays them all like Ive never heard anyone play before, in his genre of music, Leroi is the man. Boyd was onkey, jamming like a mofo and doin dirrty like he used to, deff one of his best performances ever. Butch is Butch, hes ridiculous at keys and he better be with DMB til the day they break up. Great Show, Great Songs, Great Band, lucky motherfucking fans. Peace.

I listened to the cd that comes with the dvd at my gf's this weekend and it sounded kinda shitty quality wise for an official release from the band. Well not shitty, just not up to par with the rest of them. I still liked it though, I dont think Ill be buying the 6 disc set, Id still like someone to post a pic of it though, I wanna see it!

I thought dave's voice blew big hairy nuts the first two nights.. he was having trouble trying to stay in key with the song at points, and he couldn't hit the high notes like.. at all. ants marching sounded really bad because he couldn't hit those high notes..
my 2 cents

yeah the quality of the gorge is definitly a bit subpar.. but you can't compare it to central park because the gorge was a year earlier, so of course it doesn't sound as tight. we usually expect each release to be tighter, but releasing a 2002 show after a perfect landmark 2003 show wasn't very wise..

you'd think that with digital mastering, they'd be able to patch up a few of these glitches...i can't really judge though, i haven't heard it yet

I got the 2 cd dvd set
I wasn't expecting much at all, just a nice concert and a few good dvd clips
I was wrong
I just LOVE it. I love Pig and Seek Up on the dvd, and I love Everyday => #36 and the LIOG on the cd. I have watched the dvd over and over, and just wish it was longer so I would get less tired of it.
