Say Goodbye (EASY WAY)

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Say Goodbye (EASY WAY)

Unread post by Jimithing277 » Sat Jul 03, 2004 9:35 am

Hey guys, just thought id post a easy way to play Say Goobye if you are havin' trouble w/ the verse chrods...i know it doesnt sound EXACTLY like it but i actually like it this way...only thing that is diff are the chords played during the intro/verse

instead of

Verse
E:--------------------------------------
B:-------------9------------------------
G:---6---------9------11-------------6--
D:---x---------9------x--------------x--
A:---4-----/11-11-----9--------------4--
E:-5-5----------------10----10\---/5-5--
2 (3) (2) (2)

instead you can play it like this:

E:----------------2------------
B:---2-----------3-----2-------
G:---2-----1-----2-----2-------
D:---2-----2-----------2--------
A:----------2--------------------
E:--------------------------------

hey, it works if you cant play it the other way!

Yeah, i used to play it with open chords, but you should really learn the right way. Good luck.

doing the E that way brings it down a key, and it needs to go up. I think this would be easier, and sounds better. Think of it as a merge between your tab and the way Dave does it:

Code: Select all

e---------------2/-4------2---------
B--2---h3--2----3/-5-----&3----0/2--
G--x-------x----2/-4------2------x--
D--2-------2---*4/*6------0----0/2--
A--0-------0---------------------0--
E-----------------------------------
&The correct way doesn't play this note, but sounds better for open D
*This is closer to the correct way, but can be left out to make it simplier
Yes, I am in a box

Doing it the right way is not hard at all. It was one of the first songs I learned when I was a beginner.

I agree the correct way shouldn't be too hard even for a beginner, it might take a little more practice but its well worth it in the end
