Cool Edit Question
This has probably been asked before but I dont feel like sifting through 162 pages of a "Cool Edit" search query (I tried guys, kinda...) I was just wondering what I could do (short of buying more stuff) to make my recording sound better. Like what kind of effects I could add to it, or anything else I can do to make it sound better. I tried messing around with the reverb but it sounded like shit. I dont know how to do much but just record stuff, I dont know about hiss/pop reduction or anything or how to get into all the advanced features, so any kinda of hints would be great. thanks.

k, thanks, so just go with the preset levels they have for those effects? cuz I know when you click on reverb it gives you like 10 different reverbs to choose from. and just add all three of those after Im done recording?Matty Boom wrote:reverb, compression, and eq

Yep.
Although I did this in Cubase, it shows you how important effects can be. On the second clip, I added reverb and compression.

I found the reverb function, it comes set to tight and close (if my memory is correct) but I dont know how to even add compression or eq. Im pretty dumb, I guess, when it comes to doing anything aside from just recording the music. Can anyone give me a little more indepth procedure or anything, or should I try a different program over cool edit, thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean. You can purchase an XLR->1/4" cable for your microphone, slap a 1/4"->1/8" adapter on the end of it, and plug it straight into the microphone jack of your computer. There are other options, too, but I think the above is fine for you.jsgksu wrote:I plan on gettin a shure sm58 at some point. also how expensive is it to get a direct plug in line to your computer. I know I had a discussion with dmbguitar in which I thought it couldnt do a whole lot but his recording deff sounds good and Id like to see what I can do to improve the sound.
