Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

cool... the lower parts on the g string should be transcribed so the whole thing can be played around the upper register.

Well i like playing these types of songs on the lower frets. Unless its worship then i always stay on the higher frets.

play at church?
I just tend to saty low when vocals are on, when we do music only, like in prayer, i tend to go higher

So does this a correct tab of the song, or are you including the wrong notes and awkward key changes Stefan did that night?

Stefan tried to play it at Hershey on 9/11 (and supposedly soundchecked it before the show) -- didn't sound terrible, but wasn't great, either. He also hit a few bad notes during that performance, heh.
The tab here looks to be fairly close to how I play it, though I play more on the A and D strings and just slide up/down.

he plays a similar tab higher on the neck. The structure of the Star Spangled Banner Intro is that of which you found, but I believe stefan plays it 3 frets higher

The nifty thing about classical compositions like that is all the notes tend to fall within a scale, such as the major or minor scale or one of its variants. So for example, if someone said "play this song, it is in A minor," it should be a lot easier to work it out on-the-fly.
Sure, that applies to most pop and rock songs, but then those songs tend to shift keys, or be based around a riff that is more difficult to dissect in terms of a scale or mode.
