General Music Forum?

Seeing as how nDMB doesn't really have anything to do with music anymore...

Maybe we should have a General Music Forum in the same category as nDMB and whatnot. So there would be DMB Discussion, Taping/Trading, General Music, nDMB etc. Because there are things that pertain to all music that I think don't belong in either other isntruments or general guitar. THeory and whatnot...etc.

It doesn't have to be instrument related talk. Nobody ever replies to music posts more then 5 posts in nDMB, I just want a place where we can have a good music conversation.

sounds good, but i'm concerned about purpose overlapping - say someone wants to talk about damien rice. they won't know whether to post in general guitar or general music - that's really confusing, and could pose moderation problems and problems for newbies.

Well if it's a question "how do you play song XYZ by artist ABC" then if they don't know that it goes in general guitar god help them. I mean threads like, what is your opinion on "XYZ's drummer" you know? and make the instrument forums more directly related to that instrument.

I dont think it would be a bad idea for a general music discussion, but too many forums can be confusing, they can easily go to nDMB or general guitar

Yeah, just because there's a lot of other things going on in nDMB, that doesn't mean music questions can't be posted in there.

people in ndmb are idiots half the time. theyre fine in other forums, but they go in there and just raise hell.

You don't help the situation at all by contributing to it. The best you can do is pose a serious question and the right people will respond. But if you go into threads with hate and discontent, swearing at people, or blatantly saying something just to get a rise out of people (ie: starting a thread named VIVA LA BUSH in 2004 and then calling everyone who oppose you idiots)...then don't expect people to respect your thread.

People will only put in as much effort into your thread as you do. And hell, sometimes, threads just get hijacked....but that's the nature of a message board.
