Unread post by djs488 » Wed Apr 02, 2003 8:01 am

Hey guys, I just saw this mic on musiciansfriend.com and its only $75 on sale from $200. Its a condenser mic, which everybody said was mandatory for recording guitar. Do you think I should get it because i really want a cheap one. I want to be able to plug it into my computer, can i do that with this mic? Thanks.

David

ps. I forgot, the link to it is:

I don't know how to hyperlink in this so just copy it.

Sale price doens't mean much on Musicians Friend. I've seen things "on sale" there for months on end. Not that I guarentee this will, but some things have, so there's a good chance of it.

I've never seen this mic, but if you really want some high quality recordings, definatly don't skimp on the mic just to save $30 or somethin. You'd regret it in the end.

I heard you absolutely NEEDED a condenser mic though if you wanted to record guitar. My acoustic does not have a pickup and i want to be able to record from it. Will this dynamic mic still work?

if you just want to record onto your computer, get a normal computer mic. You can pick one up at walmart for like less than 30 bucks. this is your best bet for this. also most non-computer mic's require a special cord that you would have to buy also. and you'd have to get an adapter to plug it into your computer.

i wouldn't go buying a mic for my guitar unless i was going to be using it in the studio or on stage.

well i want the thing to have good sound quality and not be all fuzzy, and then run it into my computer. will a regular comp mic do that for me?

if you buy a mid price computer mic you will be fine. i had a ten dollar mic and it was great but after i broke that one i bought another mic for like 10 bucks and it sucked. i've had no issues with my brother's mic that actually came with his dell. so buy a mid price computer mic and if it doesn't work out you can always bring it back. walmart is pretty good about that. as are other stores.
